MOMENTS OF OPPORTUNITY IN POLICE SERVICE

The Mansfield Police Division implemented the web-based Moments of Opportunity in Police Service in 2012 with the view that each citizen contact is an opportunity to win the respect, trust and support of the community. Recognizing the community is the first line of defense against crime and the most essential component in preventing it, positive citizen contacts will reinforce the community’s resolve to help us develop safer neighborhoods through community partnerships and participation.

A community’s willingness to cooperate is born out of the level of trust, respect and support they have for their police. All police personnel can leverage public support, trust and respect by embracing and promoting enhanced customer service in policing. This forum will allow you to view what others have said about the Mansfield Police Division.

A phone call received by the department:

A citizen called who wished to commend Officer Sara Mosier and Officer Ryan Anschutz for their assistance a few weeks ago on a call. The citizen advised that both officers exhibited professionalism during their contact and they were very helpful. She further advised that she has always received great help from MPD officers in the past and appreciates all we do to help when called.

A letter received by Chief Sgambellone:

    Dear Chief Sgambellone:

I would like to bring to your attention an example of extraordinary service provided by Captain Marijan Grogoza.

Recently, a most unusual situation presented itself requiring law enforcement assistance.  Captain Grogoza attended to the situation, setting aside what I am certain was an already overloaded schedule.  Captain Grogoza interviewed a man, demonstrating an incredible amount of professionalism, finesse, and humility in delicate circumstances.  Her actions brought a measure of peace and reassurance to this man and his family.

The Citizens of Mansfield and the Mansfield Division of Police are fortunate to have an officer of Captain Grogoza’s caliber.  Her efforts and the discernment in which she carried them out were exemplary.  I am extremely grateful to her.

An email from SWAT Commander Rich Miller to the Chief:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank SWAT Officers Soehnlen, Garner and Williams for participating in Airport days this past weekend.  Although the weather was very hot (under statement) they made sure to come in early to ready the trucks and equipment and then meet & great the public throughout the day in the heat.  The day was very successful with a lot of activity at the SWAT demo.  I believe it was one of the busiest spots. Again thanks to those SWAT Officers for their Dedication.

An email received by Chief Sgambellone:

Officer Dominga Chatman did a great job handling an unusually odd call involving juveniles.  Numerous complaints were brought to our attention, and she made contact with the suspects. Hopefully, the juveniles will remedy their actions, to the relief of the neighbors.
