| MOMENTS OF
OPPORTUNITY IN POLICE SERVICE |
The Mansfield Police Division implemented the web-based Moments
of Opportunity in Police Service in 2011 with the view that each
contact is an opportunity to enhance our standing in the community
by earning the trust and respect of every citizen we serve. Moments
of Opportunity in Police Service highlight the exceptional level of
policing our men and women provide to the community in an effort to
increase the quality of life for those who live, work, and play in
the Mansfield area. This forum will allow you to view what others
have said about the Mansfield Division of Police.

An email received by Chief Sgambellone to the Police and Fire Departments:
We were surprised and excited to hear the news from Tuesday at Council
of the announcement that the City's safety fund deficit is paid off in this 2013 budget. Director Steward
indicates that the majority of the debt was paid off by your efforts. We wanted to thank you for your work,
and say congratulations for achieving this major milestone in Mansfield's financial recovery. We hope that
Mansfield's financial position continues to improve, but we are particularly excited by this first move!
Sincerely, A Neighborhood Watch Leader
Compliment received via website:
I was the victim of a home
invasion. A young man broke my living room window and
came through into the apartment. The window break woke
me up and I hid in my bathroom.
I was terrified. The young man kicked
the door to the bathroom. My neighbor heard the window
break and the kick to my door and called the police. The
responding police officer was Carolyn Young.
Officer Young announced herself and
took control of the situation. She and her partner
secured the young man and my home. Once everything was
safe she displayed a great deal of compassion and
patience with me. After everything was said and done she
even followed me to the home of a friend.
Please take time to recognize Officer
Young for her outstanding performance and support.

Letter from Ontario Meijer Store Director
and Retain Administrative Assistant:
Meijer would like to take the opportunity to thank
the Mansfield Police Department for participating in
Meijer's annual "Shop With A Hero" program. We
appreciate your organization's generosity and this event
would not be a success without you. A special thank you
to J. Mark Perry and Paul Lumadue for taking the time to
shop with the children and helping make their Christmas
memorable. Meijer recognizes your kind generosity and
expresses best wishes to your men and women throughout
the year.

A compliment received by
Officer D. Chatman:
While attending the Zone 4
neighborhood watch meeting at Coolridge Golf Course last
evening, the owner of the establishment, Carmine
Whitmore, wanted me to relay his compliment to the
police department. Apparently unknown suspects had
attempted to pry open his door to Coolridge which set
off the alarm. He advised that he was impressed
with the response time of the police department and the
responding officers had handled the situation in a very
professional manner.
