MOMENTS OF OPPORTUNITY IN POLICE SERVICE

The Mansfield Police Division implemented the web-based Moments of Opportunity in Police Service in 2012 with the view that each citizen contact is an opportunity to win the respect, trust and support of the community. Recognizing the community is the first line of defense against crime and the most essential component in preventing it, positive citizen contacts will reinforce the community’s resolve to help us develop safer neighborhoods through community partnerships and participation.

A community’s willingness to cooperate is born out of the level of trust, respect and support they have for their police. All police personnel can leverage public support, trust and respect by embracing and promoting enhanced customer service in policing. This forum will allow you to view what others have said about the Mansfield Police Division.

E-mail in response to "Compliment a Cop" link on Janaury 20, 2012:

I’m so glad you got Harry back home safe and sound, after all, he has to keep Louie company. The two officers that rescued Harry were Patrol Officer Dominga Chatman and Patrol Officer Carolyn Young.  It was very nice of you to take the time to send the email.  It’s a bonus and uplifting for officers to hear their work is appreciated.

A copy of your email has been forwarded to Officers Chatman and Young, and placed in the personnel files.  The cards from Harry have also been forwarded to them.

     Sincerely and thank you,

Sandy Helsel, Secretary to the Chief of Police

E-mail from Safety-Service Director Cope to Chief Sgambellone on January 4, 2012:

A citizen said that sometime over the Christmas break, her son and grandson were walking in the area of Arlington, Marion Ave., Coleman Rd., and were stopped by the Mansfield Police.   The officer asked for I.D. for both and stated that due to the high incidents of car break-ins, they were checking anyone in the area.   She said to pass on to your officers that she was very thankful for the work that they do, and how much she appreciated that they were out checking unknown people in the area.

E-mail received by all Division personnel from Chief Sgambellone on December 30, 2011:

I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication in 2011.  Each of you have helped us set the standard for professional police service.  I look forward to 2012 and am confident  in our ability to sustain this level of excellence in policing as we honor our commitment to those we serve.

I truly appreciate what each of you do every day.  Have a great new year.
